ODBC Configuration


Please follow the instructions to setup the ODBC for your application.

ODBC Setup

1. Click on the "Start" button (left bottom) of you windows and select the"Settings" option. This will open another menu please select "Control Panel" option that will open new window as shown in Figure 2. bellow.

2. Please double click on the "Administrative Tools" icon as shown in the Figure 2. This will open a new window as shown in the Figure 3.

3. Please select "Data Source (ODBC)" and press enter button or double click on the icon, that will open the window shown in Figure 4.

4. Now we are going to create a new ODBC for your application. You must have Figure 4 window on you computer. please select the 2nd tab that's "System DSN" that will leads to window in Figure 5.

5. On "System DSN" tab please press the "Add" button the right side on the window. as shown in the Figure 5 below. This will open another window (Figure 6) with caption "Create New data Source"

6. Please select the appropriate drivers for DSN. (In case of MS Access please select the Access Drivers as shown below in Figure 6.)

7. After selecting the appropriate driver please press the "Finish" button at the bottom. This will open another window (Figure 7) with caption "ODBC Microsoft Access Setup"

8. Please Enter the DSN Name in the Data Source Name Field.

9. Description field can be filled with some description about the DSN or can be left empty.

10. Please press the "Select" button in the middle left, as shown in the figure 7. This will open another window shown in Figure 8 with caption "Select Database".

11. Please select the application database path from the appropriate location. In case you database reside on some other machine. you have to map the drive on you machine First.

12. After selecting your database please press the "OK" button on the window, that will take you back on the previous window (Figure 9).

13. You can see the Data source name and Selected database in the window shown in figure 9 bellow.

14. Please press the "OK" button on the window, that will take you back on the previous window Figure 10.

15. You can see your new created DSN in the list below.

16. Please press "OK" at the bottom to finish the ODBC wizard.

How To Map The Drive

1. Please open the Windows Explorer, open the "My Network Places" or "Network Neighborhood" and select the appropriate drive you want to map on your computer.

2. After selecting the drive right mouse click on the drive that will open a menu, as shown in the figure below Figure 11.

3. Select "Map Network Drive ..." option from the popped up menu, that will open a new window Figure 12 with caption "Map Network Drive".

4. Please select the appropriate Drive from the list.

5. Please tick the check box for "Reconnect at logon" option and press "Finish".
